He is also a research director for ISI’s Data Science and Machine Learning group and a research associate professor in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering’s Computer Science Department.<\/p>\nGalstyan’s work focuses on various problems at the intersection of machine learning, information theory and statistical physics. His research includes both theoretical effort and more application-oriented work that describe various real-world phenomena, with applications in computational social sciences, forecasting, and bioinformatics.\u00a0His work\u00a0has appeared in top venues in machine learning and AI research.<\/p>\n
Galstyan’s research has been supported by numerous agencies, including Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency (IARPA), National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH),\u00a0 and the Army Research Office (ARO).\u00a0He is currently the PI for DARPA”s Learning with Less Labels (LwLL) and IARPA’s Hybrid Forecasting Competition programs.<\/p>\n
