I obtained my degree of Licenciado en Ciencias Físicas from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1994, and my PhD in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 2003. I worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, and at the EE Department at the University of California, Los Angeles. My research interests span several areas of quantum information and quantum computing. My current projects revolve around the theory and practice of quantum annealers, in particular trying to understand how  their quantum capabilities can be used for specific applications like machine learning and circuit fault diagnosis. I have always been interested in entanglement characterization and I have worked on entanglement detection for the D-Wave quantum annealing processor. I am also interested in understanding the ultimate limits that quantum mechanics impose on parameter estimation, and what types of applications could benefit from this kind of approach.
