Burghardt is a computer scientist at the USC Information Sciences Institute who specializes in understanding human behavior with physics-inspired models. Burghardt received numerous awards including a 2018 Award for Excellence in Postdoctoral Research (UC Davis), the 2016 ISI Director’s Intern Award, and the 2012 Best Undergraduate Physics Thesis Award at the University of Maryland. Burghardt is a co-PI for $1.0M DARPA grant (Award No. HR00111990114), and leads the USC ISI AI Seminar series, as well as a CKIDS student research project. Burghardt received a B.S. in Physics (Magna Cum Laude with High Honors) and PhD in Physics at the University of Maryland in 2012 and 2016, respectively.
