CAIRNoc -- CAIRN Operations Center
Operation and maintenance of CAIRN is performed by a network
operation center, the CAIRNoc, which is operated by the
USC Information Sciences Institute (ISI)
in Marina del Rey, CA and Arlington, VA.
CAIRNoc performs the functions:
Scheduling CAIRN resources for experiments
Monitoring and maintaining the communication lines
Maintaining router configurations and restoring routers to default configuration after experiments
Maintaining evolving kernel build trees for experimental platforms
Maintaining a central repository of useful information, documentation,
and tools for the participants.
Organizing installation of tail circuits, new equipment, etc.
Herding cats.
As appropriate for a research testbed, CAIRNoc is a five day,
8 hour per day operation.
