CAIRN Research Program

CAIRN participants are planning a variety of research efforts to take advantage of "a testbed we can break".

The following general areas in network and transport layer protocol research are expected to occur in CAIRN research:

  • Integrated service models: packet scheduling and admission control.

  • Multicast routing protocols.

  • RSVP.

  • Controlled Best-Effort service.

  • IP Security.

  • IPv6.

    CAIRN will also be used by the Global Mobile (Glomo) research program for a variety of experiments and demonstrations. CAIRN will function as a WAN interconnecting mobile networks at a number of Glomo sites.
