[ns] ns-2 simulator for cellular networks?

Hi there,
         I would like to use the ns-2 simulator for simulating a new 
handover scheme within cellular networks as used by the GSM900 system. 
A had a look at the tutorial and the pdf-handbook but I am still not 
entirely sure whether ns-2 actually supports this type of network 
architecture. Could anyone give me more information on this, please?
