[ns] Modification of wireless trace output: Please help!!!

Hi ns-experts,

I am a new ns-user. I am trying to simulate a wireless protocol in ns. I have
to modify the format of the wireless trace in order to perform analysis for my
simulation. I have changed the code in the cmu-trace.cc. I now need to compile
this program and run the simulation.

Here is my problem:

I am have a student Unix account and not much memory. Hence I have not
installed ns in my home directory. NS is installed in one of our servers in a
directory /project/mcc/ee/NS. Hence, I think I have to somehow link the .o
file for cmu-trace to the other files. I have no idea how I can compile only
the file I have changed. I searched a lot of e-mails in the ns archive but
have not been able to figure this out. Can someone please help me with this or
atleast point me in the right direction? Is there a way I can do this with the
Makefile provided along with the ns installation? 

If someone has done something similar, please help me out. I am kind of stuck
here and any help will be sincerely appreiciated.
