[ns] the number of hops

Hi, everyone:

Anybody know how to calculate the number of hops in the simulation?
For example, we create a network topology with 100 nodes, and send a
packet between two randomly selected nodes.  The path is automatically
created by the IP routing protocol.  How can we know how many nodes 
the packet passed through (or say, how many hops the packet used to 
arrive at the destination from the source)?
