[ns] tcp question, "internet" delay and bandwidth, lfn ?
Hi,
I'm using ns to simulate wireless communication. I have mobile nodes and a basestation. The basestation is connected via a 10 mbit link to the internet. The "internet" will be represented by a bunch (approx. 100 to 500) of agents located on one fixed node, which is connected to the base station.
What delay should this link between the "server" and the "basestation" have ?
ping (in the real world) gives me round trip times of approx. 0.2 sec. Now if I use a delay of 0.05 s, I will have a roundtrip time of 0.1 s.
If I multiply 0.1 s * 10 mbit I get 1*10e6 bits. Doesn't this qualify as a "large fat pipe" ?
A 1000 byte packet will need 0.001 sec. If the delay is 0.1 sec, then 100 packets will be needed to fill the pipe.
But my window size is approx. 30.
So, are these assumptions correct or should I use a smaller delay, larger packets, whatever ?
Bye
Alex
