For openers (this is US-centric, but PanAmSat, Orion and Intelsat operate
in Europe also):

PanAmSat

(we used PanAmSat to connect Mongolia to SprintLink in California at 128
kbps in 1996; Mongolian ISP-- http://www.magicnet.mn -- has just upgraded
tp 512 kbps with PanAmSat.)
