This is a reminder that NASA Lewis Research Center is hosting a
workshop "Satellite Networks: Architectures, Applications, and
Technologies" from June 2-4, 1998, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the
Sheraton Airport Hotel.

For more details, see our web page: http://ctd.lerc.nasa.gov/events/5610/Workshop.html. It has a preliminary agenda that includes panel sessions. Soon we will post speaker names and paper abstracts as they become available.

This workshop focuses on interoperability and standards issues, with three technical themes: Enhancing the Internet from Space (June 2); Seamless Interoperability-Expanding the NII/GII (June 3); and Next-Generation, Space-Based Architectures (June 4).

Sample Session Topics include: Internet over Satellite Networks, TCP/IP over Satellites, Multicasting, ATM over Satellite Networks, and a Vision of the Future.

The workshop is a response to the 1996 Ad Hoc Satellite Industry Task Force report identifying five goals for the satellite discipline:

1. Coordinate/integrate government programs

2. Achieve seamless interoperable satellite and terrestrial networks for current and future systems.

3. Establish a program to enhance the Satcom professional, technical workforce.

4. Initiate pre-competitive technology development for next-generation, space-based communication networks.

5. Use spectrum and orbit assets effectively.

We hope you will join us for an exciting look at the future in satellite networks.

Please register as soon as possible, space is limited.
