Hi Alan && David,
-------------

I have heard you have implemented the LINUX TCP stack and I have some
questions of the new Hacker kernel.

I am a student of computer sc. and now I have to write my diplom.
 I am working on testing TCP/IP performance over a 2Mbit/256kBit EutelSat
DVB (Data and Video) carier. Based on the long distance of a GEO Satellite
we have a resulting RTT of about 500ms. We as the GMD (www.gmd.de) have a
project with a local cable network provider to bring IP from a satellite
station via cable network to the user. O.K ,I thing -enough background
informations.

I have to test several OS's including Linux. I did some experiments with
large Windows (RFC 1323 ) and selective ACKS( RFC 2018).
The problem is that only some few OS's (solaris 2.6) support these TCP
enhancements.

* My questions are: Does the new Kernel support them ?
* How to use more than 65535 bytes windows ( Solaris allowes 262144 bytes) ?

I have attached a net performance result file

many greeting here from germany

Olaf
