TCP over IP over PPP (over Satellite)

Dear TCPSAT members,

I studied issues regarding TCP over Satellite.

Of course TCP performance is (also) influenced by performance of the
protocols used in the lower layers.
Regarding this, I would be glad if somebody can tell me if the use of PPP on
the satellite link is a good choice?
