| CITEL´2002 | 
The Department of Telematics of Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echeverría (Cujae), the premier Technological University in Cuba, and the Informatics and Communications Ministry (MIC), announce the Second International Telematics Congress, CITEL'2002, to be held November 25-29, 2002. Within the central topic, "The role of Telematics in Distance Education and in the Computerization of Society", six central activities are planned: the "2nd Meeting of Professors for the Teaching of Telematics", the "1st Meeting of the Administrative and Academic Sectors in the Branch of the Telematics", the "1st Student Leadership and Investigation Workshop in Telematics", the "1st Thesis Contest in Telematics", the "1st Edition of the ICub @ 2002; Best Web Sites Contest", and the "2nd Telematics Product and Service Fair".
Memoirs
The First International Telematics Congress was held November 28th through December 1st 2000, in Cujae under the auspices of the Department of Telematics and the MIC, centering its debates in the topic "The Telematics in the New Millennium, perspectives and possibilities of its development".
Co-supported by the CITMATEL, Technologies of the Information and Telematics Service of the Ministry of Science Technology and Environment, the Department of Telecommunications of the Cujae, the Direction of Telematics of the Center for Scientific Investigation and by Superior Education of Ensenada, Baja California Mexico, the Department of Engineering of Telematics Systems of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain; also the foundation Teleddes, Telecommunications for Education and Development, Mexico; Segurmática, Latin American Laboratories of Protection against Computer Viruses, UNESCO-Cuba, and the Interdisciplinary Professional Unit of Engineering and Advanced Technologies of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico.

492 delegates from 13 countries participated, thanks to wide-ranging academic programs that included 83 activities where the scientific level high reached stood out. The activities included: the opening conference by the Vice Minister José Fernández of the MIC, 8 graduate-level Conferences, 2 seminars, a meeting, 5 round tables, a panel and the presentation of 56 reports about the thematic Networks of Telecommunications, the teaching of Telematics, Wireless Networks, Networks Security, Telephony IP, Networks Administration, Applications for Networks, Information Services, Networks Operative Systems, plus additional special activities for students and social activities. Also, 8 precongress courses were developed.
The CD "Memoirs of the Congress", recognized by the Book Chambers of the Republic of Cuba (ISBN-959-261-007-X) contains all the works presented at the event with the materials of the courses, conferences and other activities.

Precongress courses of interest for the assistants will be presented prior to the opening of the main events. Information will be published online at http://www.ispjae.cu/eventos/citel
The enrollment in these courses will be independent of the event and discounts will be awarded to those that are accredited as delegates to CITEL´2002.
| Works presentation modalities | 
- 2nd International Congress of Telematics
You can participate as a presenter, lecturer, member or coordinator of round tables or panels, presentation of projects, or by coordination with the academic committee propose any relevant topic for consideration.
- 2nd Meeting of Professors for the Teaching of Telematics
Professional academics will be able to participate, allowing an exchange of experiences and to propose possible collaboration between the centers and universities.
- 1st Meeting of the Administrative and Academic Sectors in Telematics
Professionals, managers and academics will be able to participate with the objective of establishing collaborative relationships that support the creation of projects and academic formation for the administrative sector. Papers or lectures of experiences of group work or training in a University or Company can be presented.
- 1st Leadership and Student Investigation Workshop in Telematics.
Students and tutors will be able to participate with the objective of sharing experiences for the development of investigations and services. Papers, lectures, round tables or panels that nurture the experiences of the individual work and of the student groups, can be presented.
- 1st Thesis Contest in Telematics.
Participation in contests of thesis will be available in the categories of Doctorate, Master, Specialty, Graduate and of Degree. The first 3 places will be selected in each category.
- 1st Edition of the ICub @ 2002; Best Web Sites Contest.
They will be been able to present the places Web in the following categories
- Cuban Web Sites of any theme (Only Cuban Sites)
- Web Sites specialized in the telematics
- Web Sites specialized in Distance Education.
- Web Sites specialized in the Computerization of Society.
- Web Sites for the Digital Press
- Web Sites of Universities and Superior Education.
3 sites in each category will be recognized and acknowledged by links published in the CITEL2002 website. The 3 sites selected as best in the competition will be given awards.
- 2nd Product and Telematics service Fair.
Companies will be able to participate with the exhibition of the services and products that they offer. The organizing Committee will select as many prizes as it deems appropriate, awarding platinum, gold, silver and bronze diplomas. Sponsors are free of the payment of fees.
- Precongress Courses.
By prior coordination with the academic committee, participants may propose and present courses of specific interest.

The presentation of works to the II International Congress of Telematics will be carried out keeping in mind the following calendar:

Each work must begin with a presentation page with a summary and must clearly indicate

- Summary: Must no exceed 500 words written in Arial font of size 11, 1.5 spacing and a 2 cm. (or 1 inch) margin.
Work extent
- Papers: must no exceed 10 pages written in Arial font of size 11, 1.5 spacing and a 2 cm. (or 1 inch) margin.
- Lectures: must no exceed 30 pages written in Arial font of size 11, 1.5 spacing and a 2 cm. (or 1 inch) margin.
- Thesis: Has no limitation, but a printed version must be provided in addition to the digital one.
- Web Site: Only the presentation with a summary that must include the URL address and the main services offered, is necessary.
- Draft or Idea: must not exceed 20 pages written in Arial font of size 11, 1.5 spacing and a 2 cm. (or 1 inch) margin.
- Expositor for the Fair: Only presentation with summary is necessary.
- Precongress Course: must no exceed 60 pages written in Arial font of size 11, 1.5 spacing and a 2 cm. (or 1 inch) margin.
All text (presentation summary and work) must be sent in one file via electronic mail to [email protected] or via the post to the headquarters of the organizing committee and can be presented in either the spanish or english language.
The organizing committee prefers that all papers be sent in PDF format, which is more secure and portable. However, HTML, DOC, RTF, PS formats will also be acceptable.
All works accepted and presented in this event will be published in a CD-Book listed as a CUJAE University Editorial (Editorial Universitaria CUJAE) and a Book Chamber of the Republic of Cuba (Cámara del Libro de la República de Cuba) publication with ISBN 959-261-025-8.
