ns release

Ns-2.1b1 has been released. Instructions for getting and building ns
are at <http://www-mash.cs.berkeley.edu/ns/ns-build.html>.

WHAT'S NS?
----------

Ns is a discrete event simulator targeted at networking research.
It provides substantial support for simulation of TCP, routing, and
multicast protocols.

Ns began as a variant of the REAL network simulator in 1989 and has
evolved substantially over the past few years. The ns development
effort is now an ongoing collaboration with the VINT project.

WHAT'S NEW IN 2.1b1?
--------------------

This release is the first beta version of ns-2.1. The main reason for the
release is to incorporate new tracing features that are required to use the
latest nam release, nam-1.0a2 (see http://www-mash.cs.berkeley.edu/ns/nam.html)
.

New features in this version include:

- support for nam-1.0a2

- a more extensive set of test suites

- an experimental enhanced dense mode multicast protocol module

Ns-2.1b1 is available from
<http://www-mash.cs.berkeley.edu/ns/ns-build.html>
and requires TclCL-1.0b3 (also available there),
Tcl-7.6 or Tcl-8.0 and otcl-0.96.
