RE: [ns] question about the nominal range in wireless network

Hello,

Have you downloaded and read the CMU-Extensions guide yet?
It's at ftp://ftp.monarch.cs.cmu.edu/pub/monarch/wireless-sim/ns-cmu.ps
Also, reading the FAQ on their page should be helpful in answering
some of your questions, specifically those concerning the usage of the
totals.pl file. To get it to work with ns-2, you can edit the totals.pl
file by removing/adding the offending field (I forget which it is).

As for the nominal range, it should be the same. At the end of
the tcl/lib/ns-default.tcl, the specs for Phy/WirelessPhy are set to
be the same as the CMU-extensions (in ns-src/cmu/scripts/run.tcl),
specifically to match Lucent WaveLAN radio.

Hope this helps somewhat,

jeff

Subject: [ns] question about the nominal range in wireless network

Hi ns-users:

In the CUM implementation, the network interface is `NetIf/SharedMedia' and
the
nomial range is 250m.

In the ns2, from the tutorial eaxmple, it is Phy/WirelessPhy. Does anybody
know
if the nomial range is 250m, too?

Because as posted early, I found in the trace file, the actual hop count is
less than the optimal count. If the nomial range in ns2 is bigger than in
cmu,
it could happen.

Thanks!

Liang Qin
