[ns] effective range of mobile nodes ?

Hi,

does anybody knows the effective range (circle of influence of the
wireless nodes) (as implemented in ns with the default physical layer
parameters)....

I want to find the maximum distance from the source where till where the
receiver receives a packet (correctly ?)...

p.s: i know i could calculate this range using the two ray ground
propagation model and CS threshold/CP threshold/RX threshold
parmeters...just wanted to make sure whether this was as simple as this or
