[ns] How to compare several multicast routing algorithms with NS?
Hi,
I am a beginner in NS. I have read the NS manural once. Then I began to read the codes in
~ns/tcl/mcast/ . Yet after several days trying, I still feel hard to understand some details
in those codes, not to say to do some changes to it to make my own experiment.
I also got a TCL/TK tutotial(Tcl805.exe). I got some help but it's simple and the help is
rather finite. Can somebody teach me what's the good steps to follow?
In fact, I want to test some protocols which have some common ground with QoSMIC
(Quality of Service sensitive Multicast Internet protoCol ) which was supposed by Faloutsos
etc (U.Toronto) with NS. Is that possible? There is little time left to me now and I am anxious.
By the way, NS manual writes in page 222 that "The actual sending of prune, join messages
etc. to set up state at the nodes is not simulated". And I haven't find any modal in NS that
can be used to simulate the multicast tree forming algoritnm, too. But what I really want to
simulate and calculate is the difference among several multicast routing algorithms. I noticed
a paper named " The Performance of QoS-aware IP Multicast Routing Protocols" published recently.
In it the comparation among several algorithms was done by NS2. I am not sure if I can do
the same way.
I appreciate any help from you. Thanks in advanced.
Best Regards.
Yours Sincerely
