Folks-

I have just submitted a new version of the research issues draft to
the I-D archives. It should show up in the next day or two. You
can grab a copy from the following URL now:

http://gigahertz.lerc.nasa.gov/~mallman/papers/draft-ietf-tcpsat-res-issues-01.txt

I'd like to thank Joe Touch, Keith Scott and Jim Griner for their
contributions to this draft.

Some of the changes to this version of the draft...

-Nuked the (weak) section on satellite characteristics. We point at
the standard mechanisms draft for such an explanation (the
description in that document is quite a bit stronger than the one
that was previously in this draft).
-Added four new sections:

    -ACK spacing
    -TCB sharing
    -Header Compression
    -Using multiple parallel TCP connections

-Significantly changed the byte counting/delayed ACK after slow
start section. This is now a section on byte counting only. A
section on delayed ACKs after slow start will be written in future
 iterations of the draft.

This draft is still fairly rough and not meant to be a finished
product, but rather to solicit comments from the community. I plan
to send another version out before the I-D deadline in mid-March.

Finally, there are still plenty of sections that need to be
written. Some of blank sections have been claimed. These are noted
by an "(in progress)" note under the section title. If anyone is
interested in writing one of the sections that is still empty,
please drop me a quick note (even if you cannot do so by the I-D
deadline).

Comments on the draft should be sent to the list. Or, if you are
more comfortable just send them to me and I'll forward them on to
the appropriate author.

Enjoy!

allman
