Bio

John Paul Walters (JP) is a Research Team Leader in the Computational Systems and Technology group at University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute applied research lab where he leads research across a broad range of topics, unified by the theme of heterogeneous systems. His projects target deeply embedded (e.g., resource-constrained) space and edge systems to supercomputers with research that spans resource managers, cloud computing and virtualization, fault tolerance, and heterogeneous compilers. A recent interest of his is the application of AI to resource management and signal processing. He also teaches the EE557 graduate computer architecture course at USC. Dr. Walters has led projects both large and small from sponsors including ONR, NASA, DARPA, and the intelligence community. Prior to joining ISI, he was a postdoc at the University at Buffalo.
