Bio
Luca Luceri is a Research Scientist at ISI-USC. His research encompasses machine learning, data and network science for exploring social phenomena in online ecosystems. He investigates abusive and malicious behaviors on social media with particular emphasis on misinformation and manipulation dynamics. He is also interested in exploring how social influence can impact information and behavior diffusion on web platforms and in real life.
Research Summary
Luca Luceri studies malicious behaviors, misinformation, and manipulation dynamics on social media to design algorithms for their detection and identify actionable insights for their mitigation. His study and interest fall into research areas such as computational social science, AI for social good, and behavioral science.
At the Information Sciences Institute (ISI), he is co-PI of the DARPA-funded program INCAS, which aims to develop techniques and tools to detect, characterize, and track geopolitical influence campaigns. He is also co-PI of the interdisciplinary project CARISMA, funded by the Swiss NSF, to support policymakers and regulators by establishing computational models to craft policy recommendations that can effectively mitigate online harms.
