Sponsored Research
ISI is a vanguard of federally funded research. Our credentials include exceptional depth and breadth of information sciences expertise in both software and hardware, including world-class capability in natural language and related fields.
ISI’s history of innovation began with seminal contributions to the Internet (then known as ARPANET) and expanded into numerous other research areas, such as space technologies, informatics, and artificial intelligence. ISI has received funding for hundreds of projects from more than 15 federal agencies, spanning almost 50 years.
Our demonstrated ability to deliver meaningful research, both within ISI and with inter-institutional teams, is powered by our foresight into research directions and priorities, and emphasis on emerging technical themes.
ISI is a department of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, which is ranked first among US universities for federal computer science R&D expenditures.
