Abstract

This thesis titled “Investigation of Future Nanoscaled Semiconductor Heterostructures and CMOS Devices” is written towards getting a philosophy doct orat e (Ph. D) in Physics. The research f or t his work was carried out roughly between the period of September 1998 and November 2002. During the first two years of my research period,(September 1998 and September 2000), I was shuf f ling my t ime bet ween Chalmers and I VF (Swedish I nst it ut e of Product ion Engineering Research-Mölndal, Göteborg) to work on semiconductors and polymeric elect ronic packaging, respect ively. Af t er Sept ember 2000, I spent my t ime in Chalmers to prepare t his eight publicat ions (published, submit t ed and in manuscript) that are attached along with this thesis. Apart from these publications, I have also contributed to nine other articles. I na nut shell, the studies for this thesis are done in roughly 2 years. During my work in I VF, I have written a few project reports and a project proposal to Albertiska f oundat ion, Got henburg Universit y, f or which a grant was awarded to me. I hope t hat you will enj oy reading t his t hesis and it will cont ribut et owards t he growing t echnology, f or a bet t er t omor r ow.
