• EDNS option for numeric 16-bit error in addition to rcode• Still set rcode per prior standards• Explicit signal whether to retry with other authorities• Creates another IANA registry for code points• Initial proposed codes: 1. DNSSEC Bogus—validation failed 2. DNSSEC Indeterminate—no trust anchor 3. Lame—not authoritative for any part of qname 4. Prohibited—explicitly blocked by policy 5. Too Busy—excessively loaded (bad idea?)
