An announcement by ISI Executive Director Herbert Schorr said the new division “will focus on developing large-scale applications and maximizing their throughput on today’s systems, as well as those of the future.”

The new dean intends that a substantial number of new faculty will have joint appointments at ISI — and not necessarily just in the obvious fields of EE and CS.

Globus is in use in numerous sites and applications, including the NSF sponsored NEESGrid project, which will advance earthquake engineering.

During his long affiliation with ISI, Will has carried out research on information systems applications to manufacturing.

The pair will hold their new ISI Fellow titles simultaneously with their existing titles, benefits and responsibilities.
